SARAH JANE MARIE ZITA KEARNS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of the loving memory of Sarah Jane Kearns, her family has established a Memorial Scholarship in her name. The namesake of this scholarship exhibited the outstanding virtues of undaunting courage and supernatural Faith in her battle against cancer, which eventually ended her earthly pilgrimage at the tender age of 14.   

Sarah Jane knew, through her Catholic Faith and education, that her life in this world was temporary and her life in the next was eternal. Holy Priests, who she knew and loved when in good health prepared her immortal soul for a holy death. Sarah Jane humbly embraced her cross with a heart that rested in Our Lord through Our Lady. Her faith and courage in the face of life’s biggest challenge exemplifies and embodies what a devout Catholic life is about.

Your essay should include a role model who has helped you along the way, either educationally, spiritually or both in addition to explaining how this scholarship would help you and your family.

Essays must be at least 250 words and demonstrate those virtues exhibited by Sarah Jane as she prepared for her eternal rewards. Holy Family High School students between 8th-12th grade are eligible for the $1,500 scholarship.
